Kscore is a web based scoring software for artistic gymnastics. It was designed and is continuously updated to be compatible with all modern browsers and devices including
- Windows and OS X
- Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer 9 and up
- Android, iOS, and Windows Phone devices
Scores are submitted directly from the judges table at each event using a laptop or tablet. Judges can either enter scores using a tablet or smartphone, pass chits to the secretary, or verbally communicate their score depending on the requirements of the event.
In 2010 I was getting organized to run a local meet in Coquitlam, BC. The meet director asked if there was any way the meet could be a little more "high-tech". I wrote the first version of the scoring system in my spare time leading up to the event.
Right from the beginning I set out to make the system as easy to use as possible. Since I don't enjoy installing software, keeping it updated, and finding out programs don't work on my computer, I made the program web based so anyone with an Internet browser could access the system. Since I don't like to throw away paper, I've made it possible to run an entire event without printing any paper. I also don't like waiting around for results, with this system the results are ready when the judges finish judging the last athlete.
Every year I have added a few features based on feedback from my users. In 2014 my system was used at the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships in Richmond, BC and the Senior Pan American Championships in Toronto, Ontario. In 2015 my system was used for Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC as well as more than a dozen smaller competitions. 2016 is looking to be my busiest year yet and I'm excited for the events to come.
