About Kscore

Kscore is a web based scoring software for artistic gymnastics. It was designed and is continuously updated to be compatible with all modern browsers and devices including

  • Laptops or Desktops running Windows, OS X, Chrome OS
  • Modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
  • Android and iOS tablets and phones

Scores are submitted directly from the judges table at each event using a laptop or tablet. Judges can either enter scores using a tablet or smartphone, pass chits to the secretary, or verbally communicate their score depending on the requirements of the event.

In 2010, I was tasked with running a small in-house meet in Coquitlam, BC. I wrote the first version of the scoring system in my spare time leading up to the event in an effort to make the event both easier to run and more exciting for the spectators.

Right from the beginning I set out to make the system as easy to use as possible. Since I don't enjoy installing software and keeping it updated, I made Kscore web based so anyone with an Internet browser could access the system. Since I don't like wasting paper, I've made it possible to run an entire event without printing anything. I also don't like waiting around for results, with Kscore the results are ready immediately after the judges have finished judging the last athlete.

Every year I have added a few features based on feedback from my users. In 2014, Kscore was used at the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships in Richmond, BC and the Senior Pan American Championships in Toronto, Ontario. In 2015, it was used for Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC as well as more than a dozen smaller competitions. Since 2016, Kscore has been used for over 100 events in BC and Alberta. Live scoring and online registration were added in 2017 and 2018 respectively and are continually being improved.
